Meeting with Royal Mail

Hi Everyone,

As some of you are aware the Royal Mail have closed their collection offices from in the centre of town.  Everyone in the DD2 postcode is now required to go to Baird Avenue to pick up parcels.  This is something we feel is unfair because:

  • It is not easily accessible, being located on the north side of the Kingsway
  • It is poorly served by public transport – requiring a 600m walk uphill from the nearest bus stop location.
  • It takes nearly an hour and 2 changes of bus to get to the nearest bus stop to Baird Avenue from the west end of Dundee
  • It costs significant money to take a taxi there
  • Once you are there the offices are poorly accessible to disabled people
  • There was no consultation with those living in the DD2 area prior to implementation of change of collection office.
  • The centre of the town was a convenient place for all to collect their parcels
The Director of Services for Royal Mail in Scotland is coming to our next meeting.  If you would like a say, please come along to this PUBLIC meeting on the 10th of April at 1900.  Please email mailbox@dundeewecc.co.uk with any stories or difficulties you have had with this change of service and we will put them to the Royal Mail.

Trusted Traders

There have been a number of scamming attempts in the west end of Dundee lately – some unfortunately successful.   The advice from the police and trading standards is never give your credit card details out on the doorstep (or cash) and be very careful about who you let into your home.  If you need work done around the house and garden, use someone you know or pick a trader off this website:

http://www.referenceline.com/tradingstandards/dundee/

This is run by trading standards and all traders on here are thoroughly vetted.
